Archiving Policy
Archiving Policy
The Journal of Applied Engineering Sciences & Technology (JAEST) is firmly committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of all content it publishes. Recognizing the importance of permanent scholarly records, JAEST ensures that all articles remain accessible to the global research community, even in the event of technological changes or discontinuation of publication.
Institutional Archiving
All content published by JAEST is hosted and preserved on the official digital infrastructure of the University of Biskra, Algeria. This includes its dedicated scientific journal platform:
UMKB Journals – The Scientific Journals Platform of the University of Biskra
This platform serves as both the publishing and long-term archiving environment for all the university's scientific journals. It is maintained by the university’s IT services, which ensure:
- Regular data backups and system maintenance
- Monitoring of security and integrity
- Disaster recovery and continuity protocols
The University of Biskra’s commitment guarantees that the entire archive of JAEST — including articles, metadata, editorial notes, and supplementary files — remains securely preserved for long-term access.
Planned Integration with PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
JAEST is currently in the process of integrating with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) — a globally recognized, decentralized archiving system for Open Journal Systems (OJS) journals. PKP PN uses LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology to store content across multiple independent repositories worldwide.
This integration will enhance the long-term security, redundancy, and resilience of our archive.

Self-Archiving by Authors
JAEST encourages authors to participate in open access dissemination by depositing their work in recognized archives. Authors may self-archive:
- The accepted manuscript (after peer review but before layout), or
- The published version (Version of Record)
In institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, or personal websites, under the following conditions:
- The original citation and source (JAEST) must be clearly mentioned
- A link to the official version on the JAEST website must be provided
This policy promotes greater accessibility and visibility of the work, supporting open science and global research sharing.
