Repository Policy
Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy
The Journal of Applied Engineering Science and Technology (JAEST) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity, and availability of all scholarly content published by the journal.
JAEST recognizes that permanent access to the scholarly record is an essential part of responsible academic publishing. The journal therefore maintains its published content on the official digital infrastructure of the University of Biskra, Algeria, while also working toward participation in an independent long-term preservation service.
Institutional Preservation
All content published by JAEST is hosted and maintained through the official scientific journals platform of the University of Biskra:
University of Biskra Scientific Journals Platform
The institutional infrastructure supports the continued accessibility and preservation of the journal's scholarly content, including:
- Published articles and full-text files;
- Article metadata;
- Editorial content and journal information;
- Supplementary files, where applicable;
- Regular data backups and system maintenance;
- Security and integrity monitoring;
- Disaster recovery and continuity procedures.
These institutional measures are intended to protect JAEST content against accidental data loss and to maintain continued access to the journal archive.
Independent Long-Term Digital Preservation
JAEST is currently working toward integration with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
The PKP Preservation Network is a digital preservation service developed for journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS). It provides distributed preservation infrastructure based on LOCKSS technology (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe).
Further information about PKP PN is available at: https://pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/
Current preservation status: JAEST content has not yet been actively deposited in PKP PN or another external long-term preservation service. Until active preservation through such a service is confirmed, the journal relies on the institutional infrastructure and backup procedures of the University of Biskra.
This policy will be updated once JAEST's participation in PKP PN or another recognized long-term preservation service becomes active.
Continuity of Access
JAEST is committed to maintaining access to its published scholarly record regardless of future technological, organizational, or platform changes. Institutional backup and continuity procedures are maintained to reduce the risk of loss or interruption of access to journal content.
If the journal changes publishing platforms or undergoes organizational changes, reasonable measures will be taken to preserve previously published articles, metadata, and associated files and to maintain access to the journal archive.
Author Self-Archiving
JAEST supports open access dissemination and permits authors to deposit versions of their manuscripts in institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, academic networks, or personal websites in accordance with the journal's Repository Policy .
The detailed conditions governing the deposit of submitted manuscripts, accepted manuscripts, and the published Version of Record are provided on the journal's dedicated Repository Policy page.
Authors depositing the published version are encouraged to include the complete bibliographic citation and DOI and to provide a link to the official article page on the JAEST website.
Permanent Identifiers
JAEST assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to its published articles to provide persistent identification and facilitate long-term discovery and citation.
DOIs registered for JAEST articles provide persistent links to the scholarly record even when website structures or article locations change.
Policy Review
This Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated when JAEST adopts additional preservation services or when changes occur in the journal's digital infrastructure.
For questions regarding archiving, preservation, or access to JAEST content, please visit the journal's Contact page .
