Point de vue sur les littératures numériques
Abstract
We often try to approach digital literature from a definition. But literature is not a concept of the same type as mathematical concepts, it is a cultural concept. Does the definition then play the same role? Is it of the same nature? Is a definition useful, necessary, unavoidable in the cultural field? These are the questions we reflect on in this section. In the cultural domain, the question of definition therefore immediately refers to that of legitimacy: who is legitimate to pose a definition? And poses the problem of exclusion: defining a cultural domain automatically excludes objects that do not comply with the definition. Hence this second question: can a cultural definition, or should it, be sustainable?
